Richie Faulkner On Next Judas Priest Album: "Almost Finished"

The guitarist Richie Faulkner has shared an update about the next Judas Priest album. He said the album is almost done.

Judas Priest is widely regarded as one of the most influential and important heavy metal bands in history. They are often cited as pioneers of the genre, having played a major role in shaping the sound and style of heavy metal in the 1970s and 1980s.

Their early albums, such as Sad Wings of Destiny and Stained Class, are considered classics of the genre and helped establish the band as a major force in the heavy metal scene. Their commercial breakthrough came with the release of the album British Steel, which contained the hit singles Breaking the Law and Living After Midnight.

Throughout their career, Judas Priest has been known for their powerful, driving riffs, soaring vocals, and energetic live shows. They have also been noted for their use of leather and studs as part of their image, which helped to define the look of heavy metal in the 1980s.

The band’s most recent album was released in 2018, titled Firepower. Consisting of 14 tracks in total, the album sold over 49,000 copies in the United States within its first week.

However, in his recent interview with The Metal Voice, Richie Faulkner opened up about Judas Priest new album. He admitted that the songs are almost done.

“The songs are almost complete,” he said. “The songs have been around for a little while now. We didn’t have the ability to get together and record them, because of the COVID pandemic. And when that lifted, we would then get out on the road. So then we had to record the stuff around being on the road.”

Faulkner was happy with the fact that they finished the album in the end. He also revealed the recording process of the album and mentioned how they acted to record it.

“But we did it,” he continued. “So we’d do a tour leg and I’d come back and do the guitars and then we’d done the drums. And then [we] went back out on the road. And we’d done things around the touring cycle. Now Rob’s Halford doing the vocals. So they’re almost finished.”

It is expected that Judas Priest will release the album next year, in 2024. When Robert Halford commented on the date of the new Judas Priest album, he said: “I did say ’23. It looks like it’s ’24 — which isn’t that far away. It’s already almost February in 2023.”
