Rick Allen Thanks Fans Over Their Overwhelming Support

Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen issued a statement via his social media accounts to send his heartwarming words to his fans after their overwhelming support over being assaulted by a person in Florida.
Rick Allen is a rockstar drummer known for contributing to the iconic band Def Leppard. Allen joined the band in 1978 when he was just 15 and quickly became an essential member. He played on all of the band’s albums, from their debut, On Through the Night, to their latest release, Def Leppard, in 2015.
One of the most impressive things about Allen‘s contributions to Def Leppard is his ability to adapt to difficult situations. In 1984, he was involved in a tragic car accident that resulted in the amputation of his left arm. Many thought this would be the end of his career, but Allen was determined to continue playing. He worked tirelessly to adapt his drum kit, incorporating foot pedals to compensate for the loss of his arm.
Beyond his drumming skills, Allen has also contributed to Def Leppard‘s songwriting. He co-wrote many of the band’s biggest hits, including Hysteria and Animal. His creativity and musicality have helped shape the band’s sound and make them one of the most successful rock acts of all time.
However, on March 12, Rick Allen joined Mötley Crüe on stage to play the band’s Primal Scream. The following day, while he was in South Florida, Allen was violently attacked by a 19-year-old young man. After the incident, the drummer “hit his head on the ground” and was injured when the attacker ran at full speed at Allen.
Recently, Rick Allen made his first issue for the first time since the incident. The musician thanked fans for their support. He added that he is safe now and recovering.
“Thank you everyone for your overwhelming support,” Allen says. “Your love and prayers are truly helping. My wife Lauren was thankfully not with me at the time of the incident. We are together now, and working on recovering in a safe space.”
He continued: “We are focusing on healing for everyone involved and ask you to join us in our effort to move from confusion and shock to compassion and empathy. We understand this act of violence can be triggering for so many people.”
